Your first impression is, "How can a full size folder be so light?" It has a 3-1/4" blade, yet weighs only 3.0 oz. Your second question is, "How can such a minimal frame fit the hand so perfectly?" The stunning visual effect of the CNC machined starburst is misleading, because this is not eye candy, but a knife that is ready to get to work.
The credit goes to custom knifemaker Allen Elishewitz, who designed the E-Lock Starlight as another spectacular way to use his breakthrough E-lock, (patent pending). A stainless steel rocker bar with a powerful spring holds the blade rigidly in place, with steel-on-steel lock-up, until you make the decision to press it and fold the blade. It is positive, secure, and remarkably simple. One hand opening and closing is fast and easy, and can be accomplished with either hand, thanks to dual checked thumb studs.
The blade pivot screw is a custom machined four-point Elishewitz design, and Teflon® bushings at the blade pivot make the action super slick.
The E-lock allows a very flat and rigid open build. The CNC machined 6061 T6 aluminum handles in a natural bead blast finish are mated to a brushed aluminum back spacer at the spine, and assembled with Torx® screws.
The Starlight modified clip point blade is premium AUS-8 stainless steel in a non-reflective ceramic bead blast finish. The grip is excellent, especially for an all metal knife, thanks to the deep finger choils, a blade guard extension, a thumb choil on the spine, and a final pinky choil near the butt.
The Starlight carries an Elishewitz custom stainless steel clothing/gear clip of gray Teflon® plated stainless steel, with his trademark six drilled holes. The very high mounting of the clip allows for unobtrusive low in-pocket carry.
