The trick is a diamond-coated spring sharpener built into the frame. It is positioned at a precise angle to give the Edgie's blade a sharpening stroke each time the blade is opened or closed. Not only do you never need to sharpen the Edgie with a stone or a wheel, it is recommended that you don't, because it may alter the Edgie's proper self-sharpening edge angle. Of course, during long cutting sessions it's a good idea to open and shut the blade a few times to maintain the edge. Because the internal sharpening strip works on one edge only, it develops a tiny burr that helps the cutting action, acting as a micro-serration. This makes the Edgie perfect for cutting everything from cardboard boxes to ripe tomatoes. Because the diamond strip is designed to last as long as the blade itself, the Edgie is covered by CRKT's limited lifetime warranty just like all CRKT knives.
