The Pacific Cutlery brand was a prominent knife manufacturer based in the United States. It was founded in the 1980s by Stuart Ackerman, who also founded the well-known Benchmade brand. Pacific Cutlery initially focused on producing high-quality knives for military and law enforcement personnel. One of the most notable products associated with Pacific Cutlery is the Bali-Song, also known as the butterfly knife. These knives gained popularity for their unique flipping action and became iconic within the knife community. In the early 1990s, due to various factors including trademark disputes, Pacific Cutlery rebranded itself as Benchmade. Under the Benchmade name, the company continued to produce top-quality knives and expanded its offerings to include a wide range of folding knives, fixed blade knives, and other edged tools. While the Pacific Cutlery brand itself is no longer active, its legacy lives on through the success of Benchmade, which continues to be recognized as a leading manufacturer of premium knives.
